Select the command "DataàStandard ExcelàOpen Workbook" from the menu bar or click on the button "Open Workbook" from the EBSILON-bar.
Microsoft Excel is started and tries to display the workbook of your document.
If there still is no workbook,EBSILON®Professional creates an empty one at first. It will contain not any sheet .
The workbook is opened and displayed on your screen. One of its sheet is the active one. This is either
You can use this feature to find the sheet of a dedicated component:
The Excel window is displayed. The sheet of the component selected is the active one.
If the workbook is open, you can edit it. That means you can change values and units of specification values. The modified data will come into effect, if you read from the workbook. To save the changes to your Excel file you need to save the file with Excel. If you do not save your changes, EBSILON®Professional will ask you to save the Excel file, when you close Ebsilon.
To change the value of a specification a value, just edit its existing value. If you type in a value which is unknown to EBSILON®Professional or cannot be interpreted, the value will not be imported and an error message will occur.
To change a unit of a specification, just edit its existing unit. If you type in a unit unknown to EBSILON®Professional, the value assigned will be interpreted via the default unit and an error message will occur.
Do not change any of the "Defined Names". Do not add defined names starting with one of the following strings:
These defined names are used by EBSILON®Professional to identify the values and units.
You can edit the workbook with Excel directly too. But be sure to close Excel, before you open the workbook with EBSILON®Professional.
It is strongly recommended not to run Excel on your PC, while using the workbook. There might be some bothering interferences.
Select the entry "DataàStandard ExcelàRead active Profile from Workbook" from the menu bar or press the "Read active Profile from Workbook" button from the EBSILON-bar.
The active profile is the one displayed in Profile bar. For more information about profiles see here.
The data of one column of all Excel sheets of the workbook will be read. Their data will supersede the current document data.

Select the entry "DataàStandard ExcelàRead Workbook" from the menu bar or click on the button "Read Workbook" from the EBSILON-bar.
In a loop EBSILON®Professional will try to read data from the workbook for all of the profiles (root and sub profiles) specified in the profile tree of your document.
