    General Remarks for User-Excel-Interface

The User-Excel-Interface helps in transferring data from EBSILON®Professional to an Excel-Workbook, whereby the user can freely select the arrangement of the data in the Excel-sheet. This can be done with the help of a template file or with a formatting command.

This is especially useful, when the output data is to be processed further by another program, and a manual shifting of the data by copy and paste within the Excel-Worksheet is to be avoided.

If you wish to use an output layout prescribed by EBSILON®Professional, you can use the Standard-Excel-Interface or a prepared report.

In the User-Excel-Interface, data from several profiles can also be printed simultaneously.

The following variations are available for using the User-Excel-Interface for data export:

Using a template file with naming of cells, rows and columns

    Using a formatting commands

The use of formatting commands is available in the scope of the EPOS system. If you want to use it within EBSILON®Professional you must get the license extended.

The naming of cells, rows and columns is done in Excel by highlighting the corresponding area and entering the name in the left field above the table or by opening the dialog "Insert"à"Names"à"Define". There are certain rules for entering the names, because EBSILON®Professionalshould be able to make out from the names, which data is to be printed in what way. The names always comprise of a prefix, an underscore and the actual object name.

Use "Type A", if you want to create a report, which compares the different profiles. The profiles are printed in the columns of the standard Excel worksheet. The desired specification or result values are printed in the rows. The layout is identical to the layout necessary for the import.

Use "Type B", if you want to create a report, which compares the component properties, especially the component lists. Each component has one row. The desired attributes for the components are listed in the columns. This report includes only the active profile. With certain restrictions, this layout can also be used for import.

Template files are also used in case of formatting commands. The formatting commands must be present in certain fixed cells in the first row of the Excel sheet: in case of report for comparing the profiles in the cells A1, B1 and C1, in case of using the EbsScript commands in the cell A1. The cells, rows or columns need not be named, when using the formatting commands. The formatting commands are to be entered as the contents of the cells.

The formatting commands can be omitted, if the reports are created from EbsScript by using the function writeUserExcelFormatted.

Template files may contain several pages, which are then evaluated one after the other. Here, you must pay attention to the validity areas of the names. In case of Excel, there are global names valid for the entire worksheet, as well as also local names for each sheet. EBSILON®Professionalevaluates the global as well as the local names.
