    EbsSolar Datasets

EBSILON®Professional  offers the possibility to load data sets (sets of parameters) for components.

Only line-focusing systems (parabolic troughs, linear Fresnel systems) could be represented using the components available in the solar library. Now the library has been expanded for point-focusing systems (heliostat fields with tower receiver). Two new components have been developed for this: the heliostat field (component 121) and the solar tower (component 120).

These components always belong together as a pair, i.e. they cannot be used individually. The input for the parameters relevant for the overall system field/receiver is carried out in the field component. The exchange of information between the two components is then effected via a logic line.

A data base is provided that helps to start simulation studies if no detailed component data are available to the user. Data in these data sets are taken from publications or directly provided by manufacturers. Before using these data the user is strongly recommended to check the applicability of the data to the specific project. Especially data sets named "class" are intended as average values for this type of collector. Individual collector systems will show a similar but not equal behaviour. Data derived from measurements are often obtained from fractions of a whole collector system and may differ from the values obtained in a real field. Nevertheless, the data provided are a good starting point in absence of further information.

    Parabolic Trough Collectors

    PT Class Eurotrough

This class is intended as a basis for modeling state of the art collector performance. The data are obtained from measurements of DLR within the Parfor research project. Literature reference (in German): Benz, N.: Parabolrinnenkollektoren: Feldtest, Optimierung und Weiterentwicklung von Receivern (PARFOR). Final project report (2008), available from Technische Informationsbibliothek Hannover.

    PT Class LS-2

This class represents an older collector version used in the American SEGS plants. Data are obtained from a measurement campaign at Sandia National Laboratories in the 1990's. Literature reference: Dudley, V.E., Kolb, G.J., Sloan, M., Kearney, D. : SEGS LS-2 Solar Collector, Test Results, Sandia National Laboratories, SAND94-1884 (1994).

    PT ClassIST

This class of process heat collectors is intended for medium temperature applications. Data are obtained from a measurement campaign at Sandia National Laboratories in the 1990's. Literature reference: Dudley, V.E. : Test Results Industrial Solar Technology Parabolic Trough Solar Collector, Sandia National Laboratories, SAND94-1117 (1994).
