    Note on the TREND library

The "Universal fluid" line type enables, among other things, the use of the "TREND library" of the Ruhr University Bochum.

This library contains essentially the same substances as the REFPROP, only acetic acid and two variants of a Lennard-Jones fluid have been added. However, the TREND library uses other equations of state and algorithms.

Especially when calculating mixtures, it can be used to calculate composition and temperature ranges that are not supported by other libraries. Phase equilibria and the formation of hydrates can also be calculated.

The following table shows the accurate property model for CO2-rich mixtures in TREND library. By evaluating this table one can examine the possibility and the accuracy of the corresonding mixture calculation. The table cells in red frames show the most relevant impurities for which there are hardly experimental data sets and no adjusted property models available

The use of the library is at the user's own risk. There is no entitlement to support from the Ruhr-Universität Bochum.

The interface to the TREND library is still under development. Please use it with care and report any errors to the hot line.

Version 4 has been supported since Ebsilon release 15. Version 5 has also been supported since Ebsilon Release 16. To differentiate between the two, the "TREND" library has been renamed "TREND 4". The "TREND 5" library is a new addition.

TREND 5 supports the following additional substances:

For models saved with versions prior to Release 16, "TREND" libraries are loaded as "TREND 4". When changing from TREND 4 to 5 and back, all compositions and options are retained as far as possible.
