Material Property Libraries - Users Guides, Notes

List of material property libraries from KCE-Thermofluids available in EBSILONProfesssional

These are libraries created by KCE-ThermoFluidProperties UG & Co. KG, Dresden (Prof. H.-J. Kretzschmar, Dr. S. Hermann, Dr. M. Kunick).

The functions of these libraries and the validity ranges are described in the documentations of the libraries.

The documentation PDF-files (if installed) are located in the subdirectory Docu\Fluids of the EBSILONProfessional installation directory.

Direct links to the documentation can be found in the universal fluid chapter.

All libraries are available with the stream type "Universal fluid”, many also with the stream type “Two-phase liquid (gaseous/liquid)”.

Note on the LibHuAir-xiw (Humid air) library

The LibHuAir_xiw provides amongst others the following material value functions:

These functions from the LibHuAir_xiw are also used for streams of type "Air". As this library also contains the sublimation curve (direct transition iceàsteam), it is also possible to specify a relative humidity in the case of negative temperatures. Until now, the water fraction had to be entered in absolute values in the case of negative temperatures.

Note on the sea water library

The seawater library LibSeaWa (2009) of the University of Applied Sciences Zittau / Görlitz) was integrated into EBSILON in the Release 9.00.

The newer version LibSeaWa (2013) is available in Ebsilon for the calculation of sea water. By default, this new library is applied for new models. For existing models, LibSeaWa (2009) is retained. You can toggle between the two libraries in the Model Options.

The third salt water library existing in Ebsilon, which is based on data of the University of Bremen, is to be used only for backward compatibility. However, this library is only valid for temperatures above 10°C.

    Note on the CO2 library

In the new version of the CO2 library, the solid area is represented, too. The library supports all three phase transitions (solid/liquid, solid/gaseous, liquid/gaseous). For the "steam content” X, the library provides

    Note on the LibC2H5OH

LibC2H5OH contains the physical properties functions for liquid and gaseous ethanol (incl. two-phase range) in the temperature range of -23.15 °C up to 376.85 °C for pressures up to 2,800 bar.
This library is available in the universal fluid and in the two-phase fluid.

    Note on the LibN2

LibN2 contains the physical properties functions for liquid and gaseous nitrogen (incl. two-phase range) in the temperature range of -210°C up to 726.85°C for pressures up to 22,000 bar.
This library is available in the universal fluid and in the two-phase fluid.

    Note on the LibRealAir

LibRealAir contains the physical properties functions for dry standard air, i.e. a mixture of 78.12 Mol-% N2 20.96 Mol-% O2 0.92 Mol-% Ar Water, CO2, and other trace elements are not considered in standard air. The library comprises the liquid, gaseous, and supercritical range for temperatures from -213.4 °C to 1,726.85 °C and pressures up to 20,000 bar.
This library is available in the universal fluid and in the two-phase fluid.
