    Preparation

In order to prepare for creating a report, you must

This Excel file is used as a template for your report.

While reading the template, EBSILON®Professional interprets the names defined in Excel and inserts the data from the model in the corresponding cells. Which data is entered in which cells is defined by the Names-Rules.

A few sample files are given in the folder Data/Examples (Templ... .xls).

    Call

To export data in an Excel file, select the menu command "DataàUser ExcelàReport" from the Menu bar.

The dialog "Report Values to Excel File" now opens.

Select the Excel template you have created for making the report and click on "Open".

Excel is now started in the background and the template file is opened.

The defined names of the workbook are read and the data is entered in the corresponding cells. If needed, EBSILON®Professional does a conversion in the units you have specified.

After your report is created, Excel becomes visible and shows you the report. You are now asked to save your report by specifying a folder and a file name. It is assumed that you will not want to overwrite your template.

After you have saved your report, Excel is closed and you can continue working with EBSILON®Professional or you can open the report again in Excel.

During the entire processing time, a communication takes place between EBSILON®Professional and Excel in the background. If EBSILON®Professional does not receive any message from Excel for a long time, because Excel, for instance, is waiting for an input, this communication connection can get broken. The following message now appears:

There is no reason to be disturbed by this message. Click on "Retry" to continue executing EBSILON®Professional normally. However, since EBSILON®Professional is no longer connected to Excel, it can no longer close Excel now. In this case, you must use Excel manually (save, close).

    Error messages

If EBSILON®Professional cannot allocate names, it gives an error message. Such messages can also appear, if your workbook contains several sheets, of which some are empty, becauseEBSILON®Professional does not find any names in the empty sheets.
