On the installation CD there is an add-in for Microsoft Excel that allows the user direct access from Excel to Ebsilon.
The add-in is available for Excel 2007, 2010, 2013, 2016 and 365. In Excel there are buttons to operate Ebsilon.
The user works within Excel and accesses an existing Ebsilon model from Excel. The model must have been created and checked with Ebsilon before. From Excel, no changes in the model topology can be made, but values in the model can be changed and also new profiles can be generated.
To configure the Excel file, an area (“Link Area“) which contains the relevant data is created in the Excel file via the menu point “New…“. With the command “Select Model File“, path and name of the desired Ebsilon model can be inserted. The command “Select Profile“ reads the profiles existing in the model and allows the user to select the desired profile.
To create links to objects in the Ebsilon model, you can right-click on the name or the description of the desired quantity and select ”Copy variable definition“ in Ebsilon in the properties window of the desired component or line. Ebsilon will then copy the necessary information to the clipboard. In Excel you can then insert these data at the desired position with the command “Insert Variable“.
After the configuration, you can then read and write data and in particular also trigger calculations via the respective commands. Details are described in the Ebsilon online-help.
As this tool uses the EbsOpen interface, the same license is required for it.
